The Not-Pop Jukebox

I've posted more than once about my love for Earth, Wind, & Fire and I could have sworn I'd posted Midnight Starr's Freakazoid, but alas I have not. I'll do that soon, but for the moment I wanted to share this mashup gem from DJ Earworm that combines Earth Wind & Fire's Boogie Wonderland with Freak-a-Zoid and something from Miss Kitten. The moment I heard it I knew I had to share it with you all.

I searched high and low to find a link from which you could download this song for free. Unfortunately, DJ Earworm's official site does not include the song (although you can find dozens of other great mashups there) and the only spots that had it were bit torrents filled with songs. If you know where I can get it, please do share. Until then, you can listen to it here!

In honor of my new theme, I thought I'd post some David Bowie. Changes was, of course, far too obvious a choice. Instead, I've selected Boys Keep Swinging, a little gem from his 1979 release, “Lodger” with Brian Eno. Since I've spent all of my time over the last few hours fiddling with tiny bits of obscure and (to me) confusing code, I'm not going to write a whole lot more. Enjoy, and thank you for spending a little time with me and my favorite songs. Obviously, I have some bugs to work out. I'll keep messing with my settings, so check back in a few...days or so and see if I've figured it out. If you've got any insight, I'd love to hear it.

Buy Boys Keep Swinging

I am posting this plea for help, if anyone actually has this song. I was listening to the radio today and heard a song called Man of My Dreams by Canadian Brenda Baker, from her second album, "Daughter of Double-Dare". It slayed me, with its retro-pop chorus and surreal lyrics. The only information that I was able to unearth was on her official web site, where I listened to a few more songs from the album. I highly recommend Call Yourself a Woman, but I'd love to get my hands on Man of My Dreams.

If anyone knows where I can get a listen to more of Ms. Baker's work or buy this song individually, please leave me a note. I wish I could link to it, but all of my normal sources have failed me. Indeed, I was so distraught that I completely forgot to post yesterday. Help!
